Take 3 for the Sea… or just because you can!

Most litter is blown around, not thrown around.

WHAT I DO: At home, we hang a plastic grocery bag inside the large garbage bin to bag up the litter that we pick up during our walk, as well as the dog poo bags.

This makes sure that all of our trash makes it to the landfill.

Sometimes, simple is the best solution.

Providing a clear, dedicated disposal system keeps the waste in the bins.

Want to keep plastic out of the water system? (1) Bag your trash and (2) only recycle accepted items in your recycling system.

STRAWS: An example of how small contamination can cause big problems:

  • Putting straws in your recycling bin leads to straws in the ocean. 👀 Our country ships out mixed plastics recycling and those get piled up as plastic waste mountains in other countries and, ultimately, get caught in the rain and weather and end up in the water system.

  • Better : Bag your straws in the trash at your home. (Or refuse straws if you don’t need them.)

Side note: Compostable Waste Bags STILL NEED TO GO IN THE GARBAGE BIN.

They cannot be put with yard waste, in the woods, along the trail… Trash only.

(Ask us our opinion of compostable poop bags if you want to get an earful. 🤭)
